As dusk fell over the city of Spartanburg Tuesday evening, a new public art project started to shine.
Local residents gathered across the community to officially launch Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light, coinciding with the celebration of National Night Out.
The project was funded by a $1 million grant awarded in 2015 by Bloomberg Philanthropies. It features temporary art instillations at nine sites benefiting 10 neighborhoods in the city.
Internationally recognized Austrian artist Erwin Redl, The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, the City of Spartanburg and other civic leaders orchestrated the project’s completion with help from a small army of volunteers.
